Statement of Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition

CHICAGO – In response to Ameren, we agree with Ameren that more transmission is needed to reach our clean energy goals. We agree with organized labor that these projects should be built with Illinois workers with the skills and training to build and operate them correctly. And we strongly support Governor Pritzker’s amendatory veto to protect consumers and ensure a process driven by our overall energy goals, not any particular company.

We urge lawmakers to uphold the Governor’s amendatory veto. We are eager for a conversation about a comprehensive approach to addressing our transmission needs and other critical steps we can take to get more clean energy online, protect consumers from rate hikes, and keep creating good jobs for Illinois workers on our path to a 100% clean energy future.
