Lucy Contreras is the Illinois State Program Director for GreenLatinos, a national environmental justice organization dedicated to advancing environmental protections for Latino/a/e communities across the country. In her role, she leads statewide advocacy efforts, and works closely with frontline communities to ensure their voices are reflected in environmental decision-making processes. Lucy’s commitment and organizing around environmental justice began in her youth. Growing up in Cicero, where pollution and limited green space disproportionately impacted her community, fueled her passion for advocacy and environmental justice. Lucy graduated from Cornell University with degrees in Government and Sociology.
