ILLINOIS – New reporting details how several major data center developers, including a company with locations in Illinois, have asked President Donald Trump to grant exemptions from federal pollution regulations under the Clean Air Act.
In response, the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition released the following statement:
“Big tech billionaires are appealing to President Donald Trump to gut the Clean Air Act and pollute our communities while they profit. Illinois families should not be forced to shoulder higher energy bills or dirtier air, so some of the wealthiest corporations in the world can bypass basic safeguards with no accountability. This is exactly why Illinois needs strong state-level protections like the POWER Act. As data centers partner with the Trump administration to gut protections, the POWER Act ensures that these massive new energy and water users in Illinois pay their fair share, meet clean energy standards to protect our health, and don’t pass costs on to working families.”
