ICJC Statement: New Federal Clean Truck Rules Present an Opportunity for Illinois

SPRINGFIELD, IL — The Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition issued the following statement in response the newly announced federal clean truck rules:

“The U.S. EPA’s final Phase 3 Greenhouse Gas Rule setting emissions standards for heavy-duty trucks, while a good first step, falls well short of what is necessary to reduce emissions in Black and brown communities that bear the brunt of diesel pollution and consequent health problems. This is a huge opportunity for Governor Pritzker to make Illinois a leader by passing the Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) and Heavy-Duty Omnibus (HDO) Low NOx rule to electrify our heavy-duty transportation network, free communities from breathing toxic air, and gain clean jobs in the EV transition.”
