Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition applauds Gov. Rauner for citing Future Energy Jobs Bill in State of the State Address

The Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition issued the following statement today in response to Gov. Rauner’s State of the State address:

“Gov. Bruce Rauner today touted the recent passage of the Future Energy Jobs Bill, the biggest clean energy breakthrough in the state’s history, during his State of the State address.

“Thanks to passage of this bipartisan legislation, which directs more than 70% of its benefits to clean energy and efficiency, we are now on the cusp of creating thousands of new jobs across Illinois, cutting energy bills for consumers, and bringing as much as $12 to $15 billion in needed investment to the state.

“This is especially welcome news as it comes on the same day that President Trump has reportedly issued a gag order on officials of the U.S. EPA, and has even directed the agency to delete its climate change web page. It is very clear that leadership on climate change will now need to come from the states, and we are gratified to see a very different message and direction on clean energy and climate action from here in Illinois.”
