Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition welcomes reports that Gov. Rauner
beginning process to meet Clean Power Plan goals.

The Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition released the following statement today based on reports by the Associated Press that the state of Illinois would take steps to meet the U.S. EPA’s Clean Power Plan:

“We are very pleased to see news today that Gov. Rauner and his team have begun the process of moving toward meeting the goals of the federal Clean Power Plan. We trust that the
governor sees the same potential in the Clean Power Plan that we do: a chance to improve public health, create thousands of jobs and provide real savings on electric bills for people
across Illinois.

“We continue to see the Illinois Clean Jobs Bill as the best path to reach those goals, to maximize the job-creating potential of the Clean Power Plan and bring private investment to
Illinois. The bill is backed by a bipartisan group of co-sponsors and our coalition of more than 130 businesses, environmental and community groups stands ready to collaborate with the
Governor on a plan that works for Illinois.”
